Can I bring my rats camping with me for 3 days?

We are going camping for 3 days at a campground only 20 minutes away, I have to pet rats. My moms afriad that they will stink up the trailor but if I sat them on the picnic table under the canopy during the day and bring them in at night they should be ok. We have plenty of room in the trailor for the cage. Should we bring them or leave them at home?

If you are going camping the last thing you want to do is keep your pets outdoors, especially at night. The next morning they will not be there. My husband and I took our cat camping many times in the RV. We had his litter box, which we cleaned regularly and it never smelled in there. If you keep them caged, then bring them. But like I said, don’t even leave them outside without their cage in the daytime. If other campers see rats, they will either alert the campground office or take matters into their own hands. Most people think of pets as dogs and cats…not rats.

I would leave them at home, just make sure you fill up their food dish and water bottle and they can last alone for weeks. Appease you mother and in the end you will prevail!

That’s a lot of unnecessary stress on the rats. Not to mention if they’re not used to being outside, the sudden temperature change came cause them to get sick.

I think it’d be much better for the rats if they stayed at home with a babysitter to feed them and give them water. Three days isn’t that long; they’ll be fine while you’re away.
