Do I need permission to hike at my State Park (Patapso, MD)?

I live in Baltimore, MD and my back yard is part of Patapso State Park. I can literally walk out my back door and I’m in the park. My question is am I doing anything wrong when I just want to go out there and hike? It would take me 10 minutes to drive to the entrance of the park and check-in with a ranger vs. just going out on my own. Are there rules that I have to follow when in the park or do I need a permit of sorts to be walking around on my own? I’m not fishing or hunting or anything just walking around. I couldn’t find any of this information on their website.

Yes, you’ll probably have to inform the local park rangers about what you are planning on doing if necessary. They’ll probably want to know who comes in and out of the state parks. Furthermore, some state parks have fees that you have to pay in order to get in (unless you have one of those stickers for your car), so I think that you should check in with the rangers.

    Hope this helps :)
