Do kids under 16 need a fishing liscense?

We wanted to go fishing at a park where we saw other people fishing there. But my kids are 12 and 8 and they want to go fishing also. DO kids need a liscense to fish? Just free water fishing
That will depend on your location. In California, a fishing license is needed for people who are 16 years or older. There are states that will require anyone who’s 12 years or older to have a fishing license. People can not give you correct answers unless you let them know your location.
