Not an authority on the area – but – skyline drive weaves back forth across the very top of a mountain ridge. One second your looking towards the valley to the east, the next towards the Shenandoah Valley to the west. I don’t recall there being any ponds or streams up there, but then I wasn’t looking either.
“White Oak Canyon Trail” may not be what you have in mind, but I thought I would share it with you. It is one of the best waterfall hikes in the Park. This hike isn’t difficult and can easily be completed in under four hours. Check the included link for more information and a map.
