What are some good ideas for cooking dinner while camping?

My family and I are going to go camping this weekend but I have no idea what to make. I had an idea of foil-wrapping and letting everyone make there own and I would cook them. Then I had an idea to make a stew or soup but thats kinda hard when your camping, and uses a lot of water.
Any ideas on what I should make? The group of people I’m going with are really big on meat and potatoes kind of thing.

the stew would be pretty good, and try toast? its hard to answer when I have no idea on what type of equipment available to you..
cheep steak with potato’s and carrots with 2 table spoons of butter wrapped in foil. yum
We used to make this and you can use any meat or fish ok:
Take a meat or fish and prepare it. If fish skin it, if meat do whatever one does to meat. (I used fish)
take a sheet of aluminum fiol and lay out your meat. cut and onion in half nad put next to “meat”.
Add cut peppers, potatoes, tomato’s and butter. Lemon is using fish, no extra fluid is needed, it will make its own. Then curl the foil up and put it on a grill, wait about 30 minutes depending on meat or fish. Open and enjoy. I still do this in the oven with fish andit is divine.
Enjoy
I’ve learned this camping you can take some hamburger potoes onions bring some pepper and salt you make like pattys oh I forgot u can use bell peppers too put spices or what ever you want on it place the meat on foil add cut up pototes with or without skin on them. Place it on very low heat so if ur using a camp fire put it on wood that’s like low I’m sorry it was along time ago I did this when I was 16 ok for a snack you can make banana boats you pill only the top part off leave the side and bottom skins save the top part. You dig out the middle of the banana and put chocolate bar pices in the midlle on the sides of the chocolate you put small marshmellows. You place the top part the skin back onto the banana wrap that in foil let it cook for about 2 to 3 mins just so it melts on the coals the part of the fire that’s dying but still there. So with the meat if you have time let it cook for about 35 to 40 mins just open and check to see if its still pink with the banna boats just check and see if its melted oh I forgot when you dig out the middle part u can put that back on top to or eat it. If ur cooking over a firse you can have bacon and eggs in a brown bag layer the bottom of the bag with bacon then crack 2 eggs over this fold the top part over. Find a stick take all the bark off and stick it through the bag hang it over the fire and let it cook I promise it works. I use to camp and I’ve learned a lot. So with the hambuger and eggs just season that the way you want I hope this works
You can do :
1. Grown up version of hot dog on a stick over the fire.
Use brats or smoked sausages. Wrap potatoes, zuccinni, corn etc in foil packets or individually with assorted seasonings and place at the edge / rim of the fire, The potatoes will fire roast for 10 minutes while everyone cooks their own brat sausage. Use a forked stick and pull assorted packets toward camper. Unwrap and eat. To clean up, toss the sticks in the fire and just pick up the foil.
2. Kebobs
Make assorted kebobs of meat and veggies. Soak the meats in italian dressing or marinade of your choice. Skewer on sticks or rosemary branches and roast over the fire. Use Naan or Pita bread as your starch as well as your serving plates.
3. Breakfast in a brown bag
Use brown paper lunch bags that you cut short to make 1/2 the height.. Make a layer of bacon on the bottom of the bag (3) then place on the area of low heat at your fire site. The bacon grease will be absorbed by the bag so it wont catch on fire. Scramble up some eggs and pour into the bag. Use a spatula to occassionally turn the bag to evenly distribute the heat. Make toast or pancakes at the same time. Or have campers make their own bags and pancakes. Breakfast is ready when your eggs are done the way you like them.
