I always found them in abundance during summer when they breed. But its spring so they should be out there. Basically when its warm the bluegill will be out, when its cold they go deeper into the water. I love fishing for blue gills, they have the fight of a small sized bass and they always bite!

Basically if its warm, go fish for bluegills. Otherwise don’t expect anything.

It depends on where in the country you are. If in the south, they are probably biting good by now. If in the north, it is usually late April to May before they start biting good. Bluegill start getting active when water temperatures rise above 50 degrees. If there are shallow areas that you can get to, these warm up quicker than the larger and deeper parts of the lake. Try channels and shallow bays as the first areas to fish. I recommend red wiggler worms for bluegill. I live on Lake Okeechobee & went fishing this morning & between my son & myself, we landed 73 large bluegills, which is a little unusual, because ti is usually about late april or early may, before they start biting in large numbers

Well they already came out where i live (southern Illinois) But right now its a little windy but bluegill and crappie both can be caught in the winter and summer they never really go away just in the winter u have to angle to the bottom but when its 65 degrees or higher u will be able to bobber fish again

Spring and Summer primarily are the easier months to catch them as in the Winter they are in deeper water and not fighting hard like Bass, and Catfish.
