Well there is a camp site in Canyon Lake, but since it is a gated community you have to know some one to get it. It is nice right on the lake, lots of trees, and pretty cheap.

There are also camp grounds on the Ortega Highway. Right at the top point. Not sure the price or the name, but it is beautiful up there, and it would be about an 1 to 1.5 hour drive depending on where in Riverside you live.

Also just check out the National Parks in the area. They are usually pretty reasonable with their pricing.

Hope I could help! Have fun!!

You might want to check at RiversideCountyParks.Org and take a look at places like Bogart Park or Hurkey Creek. (First link below.)

There is a similar guide for San Bernardino County parks, such as Yucaipa Regional Park. (Second link below.)

Orange County has some nice parks, such as O’Neill Regional Park. (Third link below.)

Finally, there are the National Forests, including the Angeles, Cleveland, and San Bernardino. (Fourth, fifth, and sixth links below.)
