I am going on a 5-day camping trip: tent, sleeping bag, etc. in San Marcos, TX. What should I bring?

I am NOT a camper. In fact, I have never been on a successful camping trip. I am unable to get out of this experience. Are there any “rustic” campers out there who might be able to share some wisdom to make this a relatively painless experience?
