A deck of cards is easy to carry, if you are car camping then maybe a board game to play.

You could also bring a hand held video game but that kind of ruins the reason you are camping.

Instead walk around where you are and explore the area. Bring a camera and take pictures of animals, mountains, lakes whatever is around!
Bring a flashlight and go for a walk (with an adult!) and find an open field and look at the stars.

There is tons to do in the woods! Have fun

The most important thing to bring with you while tent camping to keep you entertained is a creative and involved parent/adviser. If activities are planned there really shouldn’t be any “tent time” except just before going to bed. Usually the kids are worn out at the end of the day and just talk to each other until they fall asleep. A few have brought portable DVD players but I don’t recommend it. If you always get bored you should tell your parents to find a more active camp for you to attend. One that doesn’t leave you in the tent all day.

There are lots of travel sized board games on the market. Or if allowed, bad minton, horseshoes, or other portable outdoor games. A kickball, soccer ball, or football for a pick up game or just to toss around is fun. And I like many of the other ideas you’ve been given as well. A camera, fishing pole, good shoes for hiking, and a swim suit, are all must haves for me when camping. Don’t forget the marshmallow’s and roasting sticks! A frisbee (some glow in the dark or light up at night) or a kite would be fun too. There are little fold up para-foils now that pack up small and are easy to carry. Do you draw? A sketch pad and pencils pack easily. Hope that gives you some ideas! Camping is about relaxing, enjoying nature, and enjoying the people you are with. It gives you a chance to get away from the video games, computer and TV and explore other interests. Enjoy!

Bring a camera and binoculars. Explore the area around you and enjoy the beauty of nature.

Go to your local library or online and look for co-operative games which gets everyone involved such as capture the flag, or hide and seek or dodge ball. There are tons of creative games you can play with the group, assuming your not alone. Treasure hunts are great also. Good luck and remember to absorb the nature around, it may not last too much longer.

bring pen and paper and do a scavenger hunt with your family or friends. You can find things like a leaf a certain size or a piece of bark the size of your foot, a black rock or things like that, but you really need at least 3 people so one can make the list and the others can race to see who finishes first. Me and my boyfriend took our little brothers and did this and we wasted a good hour or two each day just looking for stuff!
