Tick head stuck in dogs eye!!! Please help!?
by admin on Wednesday, December 22nd, 2010 | 15 Comments
I took my dog camping and she ended up getting a tick on her eye lash line(right, right, right below her eye). We used tweezers to get it out but the body broke off with the head still attached. Now I need to know what could happen to her. I rather not to take her to the vet unless I have too. Will the dogs body absorb the head? will it come out on its own? What should I do? I love the dog very much so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please take her to the vet. Or ATLEAST CALL the vet!!
It won’t come out on its own and could lead to and abcess which can be serious. Please take him to the vets as soon as possible.
You have to get the head off too, try to get it off with the tweezers and if you can’t you may have to take it to the vet to get it removed, or you can just call a vet and see what they say about it!
The dog should be taken to a vet right away. At this point there is nothing you can do because it is in such a delicate spot. Even if you had taken the tick completely out, it is recommended you should take your dog to the vet so they can check wether it has contracted lyme disease.
VET!!! would u like that in your eye?
take her to a vet immediately!!!!
Get off the computer and call your vet.
Get the dog to the vet, or at least CALL THE VET to know what to do!
Yeah. Off to the Vet.
You need to take her to the vet to get the head removed and have it checked for Lyme Disease. If left ticks will usually regrow the body, if the head is left you are also running the risk of infection.
You actually need to burn ticks in order to get them to release their bites and have the head come off with the body. Since that isn’t really an option I think your puppy needs to go to the vet to get the head removed before she gets an infection and goes blind. Good luck.
my vet said NEVER remove a tick by yourself! why don’t you want to take your dog to the vet??? you say you love your dog very much so whatever the problem take you dog to the vet right away as if money is the problem then it will cost alot more if it does get infected and your dog maybe in pain i guess you don’t want it in pain????
good luck!
people might not like this answer but here i go. You Do Not Have To Worry About The Head. It is the biggest MYTH I Know. Once the body is removed the head will die. our bodies along with dogs automatically get rid of the head. we and dogs shed skin cells constantly and the head will be shed as well. the dog might get a pimple at the sight but it will be OK.
I had a similar problem and called my vet about my dog and that is what they told me. Sorry if people don’t like the answer I am sorry.
take dog to animal hospital, show it to vet, they will know what to do
If you can not get the rest out watch for a day or so then call the vet…..
