What is a good digital camera that shoots video and still pictures?

I am considering getting a digital camera because I want to be able to take it to camp this summer, I’m sick of using those disposables. I would like either the Sony Cybershot or a similar model/brand. I would like the convenience of still pictures and video as well.
What would you recommend? Again I am considering the Sony Cybershot, which model is best, or do you recommend something else?
If you are patient, in the next few years, some of the dSLR makers will be selling a camera that performs equally well both as a still camera and video camera. At present the video feature on the dSLR’s is just a feature, but cannot produce the quality videos that a $50,000 commercial Full HD video camera can.
Your goal seems to be even lower than a good dSLR
Look for a P&S camera that has the Full HD video feature and at least a 25 x optical zoom lens.
A huge plus would be if the camera had a stereo microphone jack included.

Also bringing motion detection equipment, should be interesting.

I suggest the Sony DSC W530. It’s already at 14.1 MP and shoots videos in the format that’s compatible with a PC so you don’t have to worry about getting technical when you want to transfer the videos to your computer and watch it.
