My parents have a peice of furniture that is wood and was shellacked. It’s shiny.?
Posted by: | CommentsMy parents tried to paint it white (with regular wall paint I guess) and the paint is peeling off. They don’t want to go through the trouble of sanding the shiny stuff off and refinishing it.
Is there any paint that paints over shellacked shiny finishes?
I saw a commercial for a spray paint that goes over plastic (like patio furniture) and I suggested that to them but I’m not really sure that won’t peel off either. Plus it might be expensive because they’ll probably need a lot of spray cans.
Does anyone know about painting over an already shellacked piece of furniture?

Years ago we purchased the black cast aluminum furniture called “Chandler” patio furniture from JCPenny. (you can still see it on their website by looking up the word Chandler). The problem has been that if you touch it, it colors everything black, like a very inky newspaper. We’ve tried to wash it twice a month and wax it with auto wax at the beginning and end of every season like most websites say, but have never been able to correct this problem. We’ve had more than one person tell us that if we seal it with a spray sealant, it will just chip off and take bits of the powdered coating off with it. We love the furniture otherwise, but would like to know how best to take care of it. We would appreciate any genuine advice that correctly addresses this problem. Thank you!
Someone or something is making my patio cushion fabric melt or burn?
Posted by: | CommentsNoticed on my second set of patio furniture which is less than a week old that I have burn marks on my patio furniture cushions. They are nearly a foot long and bad enough i have to dispose of my cushions. I though my old set someone had accidently spilled grease on them or something and in the sun they melted the fabric as the cushions were old. However in less than a week on my new cushions I noticed on large long burn looking mark at an angle. Then I noticed a few strips of dead or dying grass at the same angle next to the chair. The angle is suggesting a neighbor who we don’t talk to but have had issues with on noise complaints is spraying them. They would have to shoot the stuff about 25 feet or more over their fence. Don’t want to point fingers but its scary as I have small children and its very odd. Any suggestions or advice or what this chemical burn could be from?
Does anyone know what day of the week Walmart starts their sales?
Posted by: | CommentsI have my eye on a set of patio furniture and it has been “rolled back” 15% already from the original price (still over $600 though). I was wondering if it might get reduced more now that Memorial Day is over and if so what day of the week that typically happens.
orange fluid leaks from patio chairs?
Posted by: | CommentsHello,
Something freaky is happening to my patio furniture. My building is undergoing pressure washing on the outside, so I brought the chairs inside over the day. They are made of a brownish metal (iron?) and a sort of mesh. So they have spent the day indoors, and I was just taking them outside again, when they started “bleeding” a bright reddish orange fluid. What can this be? Can rust appear in liquid form?!
How can I keep paint on the chair and off of me?
Posted by: | CommentsI spray painted some patio furniture that was starting to fade, and let it sit, its been about a year now and the paint still seems to rub off on me and whatever else touches it. Is there a way I can keep it from giving me a green thumb?

HELP! My brick patio has an ant problem!?
Posted by: | CommentsMy brick patio has an ant problem. I’ve pulled all the weeds that pop up between the bricks, I’ve tried vinegar, I’ve tried this powder insecticide that just left the patio a mess (and more importantly, didn’t work!) I don’t even want to sit out there ’cause I’m freaked out ants will crawl up the patio furniture. Can somebody recommend something to use on them that will get rid of them? I don’t have them in the house (yet), but I’m thinking that as close as they are to the house, it’s only a matter of time!
These are some excellent answers and I thank you so much for them. Being a new homeowner is overwhelming sometimes! I guess I just expected that the stuff that I bought would work right away! I will try to be patient! Thank you so much!!!!
