@Comfytees Hi, Charge controller is a CQ1210 mppt charge controller and can be found at Greenergy Star.
I have not tried it without a battery, but should work for small loads like led lights, hope this helps.

Hi, what brand mppt and any tests done to see if it really is an mppt? Also does the mppt allow power to the load without a battery using only panels?

Thanks for all the comments, this is a very easy and affordable project so don’t be afraid to try one yourself.

@oldguyfromcalifornia . Hi old guy, I have about $250 in this setup not including 85w solar panel. If you use the dropdown under my discription I have broken down the cost for most of the parts. This is realy easy to make and you dont need to purchase solar panels to make one. If you keep it on a float charger it will be ready for use in an emergency, if you use up the battery you can remove the top box and hook it up to your car battery as a backup. Thanks for your questions and interest…

How much did you invest in materials and time? It looks great and is way beyond my abilities but it seems like a great idea.

@ryukaibutsu Thanks, when the inverter is on I turn on the fan. No problems yet, the fan moves alot of air.
