Should more people consider using solar power?

I know it’s expensive, but i don’t know details! Does it pay for itself in the long run?

for most it takes about 15 years to pay back what you spent at the current price for most solar panels

    absolutely

With no pollution yes but not in money.

One coal burning electricity plant is equal to 100,000 of thousands of solar panels. The money of maintaining one plant is insignificant to hundreds of thousands of mirror panels that need to be cleaned once a month.

If you’re talking about replacing a centralized power plant, then solar is much more expensive today, and would represent a loss.

However, if you’re talking about an individual home, solar can pay for itself, and be cheaper in the long run than buying electricity from the power company. It all depends on where you live. How much energy a house would get out of a given installation depends on whether the house is closer to the equator, or in high latitudes. Whether the electricity generated represents a fianancial win, and pays for the system, depends on local electric rates.

So my general opinion is that people living below a certain latitude should consider getting solar, and as solar costs decline, that line moves further north (in the northern hemisphere) each year.

I got a generous ($10K) rebate from my utility, and a $2K tax credit so mine will pay for itself in about 6 years. My utility just announced a nearly 20% rate increase over the next 18 months so I will likely break even sooner. After that I will be generating almost all my electricity for free for an additional 18-20 years. Sounds like a great investment to me.

Yes it is more effective than using other resources such as coal. While it may be expensive it really is your personal choice on how you interact with the environment.

Solar Power is an enviroment friendly and easily available source of energy from Sun rays. Yes, it is seen expensive at the time of installation as the accessories are reasonably costly. Since, no electricy charge or dues/ duty etc. have to be paid later, we should cosider for larger use in public places like Park, School/ College/ university/ Office campus etc, this may help the civic authorities to curtail lot of yearly buget expendiduture. Equally we may also light up our home stead areas for free through Solar energy.
Further research may however make the accessories of solar energy cost effective and dearer to consumers. We may also draw attention of our Govt./ Policy makers/ Universitys/ Companys towards this aspect.
