you sure can tell that this was filmed quite a while ago. thank goodness that we have come such a long way since then. one thing i do know is that there were such things as power saws back then yet they cut rails by hand. glad i don’t work there. wow, the old days of wiring each indiviual mod…yuck.
Not only is the crew bunk, the video editing is bunk as well.
How efficient is this system, because its been install under shade conditions.
wow, this video was done 8 years ago now. Maybe you should take a deep breath and look at the crew that has done over 2000 installs since then. Yep, anybody can be in the solar business and we encourage nice people to join the revolution. Please feel free to comment on our other solar installation videos. I’m sure you’ll find some good and some…
Take care! have fun and go solar.
What a gay video by the biggest bunch of amatures on the planet. it’s sad that just about anybody can go and be a solar electric company.
it seems I have scrach your bottom, however, if you know how to use the NEC code go t0 NEC 690, you will find that each inveerter needs its grounding DC rod which should be connected to the main panel grounding system, even there is an optional DCgrounding rod for lightening purpose which is connected directly to the pannels, which some AHJ may ask the contractor to install.
This is incorrect thinking. The Sunnyboy inverter works fine with equal string sizes on different roof surfaces. Check with SMA if you don’t believe me. I’m glad I’m the professional here.
Get a grip;. Lettering? This system was done in 2001. This was before the sticker fetish became a requirement. Now we have Alice’s Restaurant stickers and color glossy photos pointing with large letters…… Get a grip! I’m glad you can’t see the grounding rod, sorry I missed that detailed picture for you. Code says we can ground house grounding system. Since you don’t appear to know, Inverters will not turn on unless they are grounded. This is a great install by a great crew.
it shows the work was not done by profesionals, I dont see any DC grounding rod to be connected to the INverter which is a must, secondly all the information written on the equipment and conduit it should be written on on stickers with red background and white color letering 5/8 inches height, not written by just ordinary felt pen . poor work from ABCsolar, it is shame
was für ne Musik. Looolll
Sir, The SMA manufacturer is not the making the NEC code, if you go and do some research on solar energy code, when any two array or string are facing the sun in different orientation towards the sun what is shown in your video, there has to be two different inverter, because of insolation energy which falls on the modules are of diferent values because of module orientation, u dont need to call the manufacturer, if you are designer of solar energy u have to take care of these types of aspects.
HI,
I’m glad you enjoyed it. Each roof has one string. This keeps the voltage the same. It was one of the early things to learn that you can have two equal strings to one inverter. You can call SMA America and they will verify it.
Cheers. Bradley
I enjoyed watching your video, however, at the last seconds of video , it showed that there are two sets of arrays are installed on the roof, where the amount of sunradiation will be different for each array during the day at same time, therefore you can not connect to sets of different arrays with different orientation to only one inverter, becasue theeir out put voltage will not match at same time. I could not see there two set of Inverter to be installed.
PROBOBLY THE CHEAPEST LABOR TOO!
Looks like today is the day that you learn something new. Inverters and module’s junction box terminals are torqued to inch pounds and not foot pounds. There is just a little bit of difference. Try reading a manual, you’ll get there someday.
All Power drills are torque drivers now days, or do you not own a drill?
VERY NICE VIDEO
I’m a 30 year old electrician living here in Jacksonville, FL. I am currently studying to get my masters license. Watching this video just gave me an idea to open up my own solar power company. I’ve done everything that they did in this video.
San Dimas!! Bogus!!
NO, wow, a bunch of Americans. This is one of the best solar crews in the business.
WoW a bunch of mexicans!!
you can´t say generally how much it would save, it depends of a lot factors, like :
- are you buying everything, or are you
willing and able to do some things yourself,
- do you want to install PV (electricity)
or solar thermic (hot water),
- how much sun hours a year do you have
and at which intesity is this sunlight
…
Why rent electricity when you can harness it for free, and sell back to the electric company any you don’t use?
yes, two strings – one inverter. The key here is that the strings are the same number of panels to have the same voltage per string. The roof pitch is the same too, so this configuration gives a longer production day.
I want to say Torque Drivers are for wimps, but I think that will sound funny!
This is a 3KW system. It should produce 450kWh a month on average in Southern California.
