   The native americans used (and use) the sun to dry their clothes.

   Solar power has *always* been used by human cultures, going back thousands of years.

   Now, if you’re talking about solar electric power, google to find out who invented the photovoltaic cell. But people used solar power in a more `formal’ way before that, for example putting panels on their roofs that water ran through to help heat their house. It would be difficult to pin down the first person who did that …
