Why does the left keep talking about wind-solar power when they know that it cannot work

It is simple science / technology, we cannot power our world without oil and coal. We are not even close.

In the Left’s fantansy world, anything can work.
They just like to disagree with Bush, the last couple of weeks with gas dropping after Bush’s speech must have them stumped!
Yeah, non windy & non sunny days wold suck in the left world.
Solar and wind do work, it just needs to be scaled up. If we keep focusing on just oil and coal, we’re betting on depleting resources.
I’m installing solar for my house, and won’t pay more than a connection fee for electricity.
Simple science and technology says that we should have a combination of wind, solar, geothermal, wave energy, and gas. Oil and coal are just way too expensive and the oil and coal industries have too much of monopoly on us now. We need to diversify if we are going to be able to move our country forward.
Maybe not all of it, but a good percentage. Germany already gets twenty percent of it’s total electricity from solar. We have way, way more sun than Germany. It can work, it is working.
Because the left wants it to happen and that is enough to them to believe it will.
You are trying to use logic with people who do not use it.
The simple problem is the left buy into the notion that oil is evil. The only evil with it is that bad countries have it. If we find our own, we do not need theirs.
try a factual question….in fact we can do exactly that and should, enough Solar energy stikes the US everyday it could run the earth for 100 years. every square meter gets 1000 watts of solar every second of the day.
Nobody has said those technologies can provide electricity 24/7, but when conditions are right they could significantly reduce the amount of coal or oil needed. Maui has a wind farm that provides 9% of the island’s needs. That’s 9% less fuel needed, and every bit of reduction helps.
good ‘ol Red State Texas just announced plans for the largest wind farm in the world !
they are going to make a lot of their electricity that way soon.
powerful solar panels are still a long way off, but they can produce a decent amount of electricity for homes with current technology.
as for oil – we all know our cars run on gas, so no need for you to make stuff up.
Because it’s very easy for them to demonize anyone who disagrees with them, thereby avoiding any serious or rational debate on the subject.
It’s easy for them to say that anyone who is opposed to solar and wind power, or even who just feels that they aren’t enough to meet all our needs, is a scumbag who “hates” and wants to see the environment destroyed.
If you have turned your debate opponent into an evil and rotten scumbag who is opposed to flowers and nature and little children, then you don’t have to debate them – because of course no reasonable person could be opposed to your ideas in the first place. That way, the paucity of your ideas will not be revealed. Ridiculing of one’s opponents, rather than actually taking on their ideas, always has been integral to the Left’s strategy.
Who is “the left”? There is no viable “left” in this country. By contrast, the far-right rules this nation (at least until January 20), and they’re telling us that drilling for oil will help now, not in 10 years after the next President is already out of office, and won’t cause environmental spoilage. They’ve had their chance to get it right, and they’ve failed.
Why aren’t we talking about nuclear power? It’s clean, safe, and the cost per kilowatt hour nowadays is minuscule compared to other power sources.
dude, lies is what they do !
You are right, we cannot power everything with wind and solar right now. However, you are very wrong about the fact that we can’t power our world without oil and coal. Maybe you have heard of nuclear energy? The problem with that, aside from the safety concerns, is that there are NO corporations in the US that can manufacture the necessary parts to build more nuke plants. The point of developing more wind and solar is to reduce the number of coal and oil plants, not eliminate them overnight. Nice try on the Fox News-esque spin.
