Can cigarette s,ole be transferred from person to furniture?

I am not a smoker but I have some friends who often come round that are. When they come round they are really good and never smoke inside and go to the patio at the end of our garden, but they do always tend to have a smokey smell on their clothes/person.

Can the smell from their clothes be soaked up by my furniture/tv/walls etc? I just really hate the smell of smoke. Or is the smell just soaked into their clothes

it can eventually, i know what you means as we are non smokers & when friends come round & go outside for a smoke the smell always comes back in with them its unavoidable

The smell can transer to things that they touch, like your couch, but probably won’t permeate the walls.

I have picked up smokey smells on my clothes from being in smelly smokers homes on their soft furnishings, or even sometimes just in their house, even when no one is smoking at the time. Disgusting! I always put those clothes in the washer the instant I get home.

People that smoke don’t realize how badly they stink. We who don’t smoke really notice that odor.

It’s just like cologne…in that when someone hugs you who has cologne on then that cologne is transferred to your hair and you can’t get it out until you wash your hair. Well it’s the same with furniture and draperies as they just pick up the smell so you’d need to wash those if you want your place to remain sweet smelling. Smokers take it personally and emotionally if we rebuff them because of their stinky habit so if you want the smokers as friends you’ll have to tolerate the smell.
