1987 Chevy Suburban leaking from back after pulling trailer.?

I have a 87 Suburban that I just noticed a leak coming from the back of the truck by the passenger side wheel. I noticed it after I pulled my camper to the camp site. There was a dark oil looking spot on the ground but smelled like gas. There is also a heavy gas smell around my truck after driving it. Any ideas?

look to see if there is a wet area on the gas tank
if so the tank is leaking
could also be a fuel line or filter leak
if tank is leaking then it needs to be repaired or replaced
that old of Suburban is common for gas tank to rust thru

Ok mullet man. You have a 22 year old chevy that goes with your 25 year old haircut, and it’s leaking. Maybe brake fluid by the wheel, maybe gas if the tank is on that side, maybe both. Just how much do you want to invest in a 20 year old bean counter car that’s probably rusting away from the inside out. It’s your call, but I’m thinking it’s time for a new one, before you get stuck in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night.

paul is a jackass, don’t listen to him.
could be gas tank leak, or brake line leaking, is the brake master cylinder fluid going down, then it is brake fluid.
My boss just bought the same thing for $300.00. the interior is nice and VERY little rust. They just took it on a trip of 3500 miles with no problems. My daily driver is a “92 Chevy PU with 250,000 Mi on, Original engine, trans, etc. NO problems, only had to put a new fuel pump in and basic maintance. They will last a long time with routine maintanance, don’t be afraid to stick a little money in it. Just draw the line between maintanance, and “nickel & diming” you. If you routinely are having problems, then yes, it’s time to get something else.
