Good advice on the MDF. I was a bit reticent about using it, but didn’t want to fork out for the voeringer ply and wait for delivery. I’m saturating the shower inside with a damp proofing compound before covering it with waterproof lino and mastic at the joints so hopefully will be safe from damp.
I used 18mm MDF as a bulkhead in my old Transit. It’s strong but very heavy and should be painted since damp will cause it to swell up and delaminate. I used multi-surface primer then kitchen cupboard paint which is tough and hard wearing. Your work looks to be of high quality. Can’t wait to see more of your vids.
Other Q’s answers on vid 1. I cut the holes for ventilating the gas locker with a 12mm steel drill. No water will get in as they are underneath the van. Holes are cut in the thin floor panel only. Do not cut any beams or structural members under the van.
I am not making any major alterations to the vehicle structure or safety systems eg brakes. New Items fitted are not part of the MOT test.
Hi,
Amazing set of videos!!!
I can’t wait for the following videos….
I wanted to ask, how do you do the drain of the shower? do you cut a hole in the bottom? How do you cut thee holes for vetilating the gas compartment and where? how do you prevent water from getting in? does it pass MOT with no problem like this?
Thanks!!!
I wouldn’t bother with a basin, they break easily and in that space, it’ll be too much of a squeeze – you’ll find in reality you’ll never use it – just stick with the kitchen sink for washing. – Just my opinion.
