A clever, fun problem. Top answer points up for grabs!!?

Cache and Ferry. You’re transporting supplies to Indiana Jones, who is stranded in the Canyon of the Crescent Moon. To do this, you have to cross a 1000 mile stretch of desert. You have 3000 units of rations at base camp in Cairo, but can only carry 1000 units at a time. To stay alive on your journey, for every mile you walk, you need to eat one unit of the rations. How much supplies do you think you can deliver to Indiana Jones?

you could DRIVE to him? idk or RIDE a camel, but walking would definetelly be a last resort, so maybe a bit of rations?

I guess I don’t understand this. If you have to cross 1000 miles stretch to get there, and you use 1000 units doing it, and you can only carry 1000 units, then you cannot get back to the other 2000 units.

So, Ole Indy is out of luck, the way I see it.

Step 1) Half your group goes over with 1000 units of rations ( they’ll be left with 500)
Step 2) The rest of your group goes over with 1000 units. (again 500 left over)
Step 3) the entire group goes across with the units you had left over
