Are These “Christian Values” Representative of God-Fearing Republicans?
1) A 15-year old girl was punitively dragged on her stomach from a rope tied to a van at Love Demonstrated Ministries’ boot camp near Corpus Christi because she failed to keep up with a running exercise. A retired U.S. Air Force instructor is the “commandant” of the camp that was created to “re-instill the values that have been lost in our society for a couple of generations, values such as discipline, morality, unity and integrity,” according to the camp’s Web site. The ministry is supported by both private and government funds amounting to $314,673 to operate the camp season of only 32 days with $278,549 going for salaries. Licensed camps in Texas are supposed to be at least 11 weeks long.
2) At the last minute, the High Point Church, a nondenominational megachurch in Arlington, Texas, reneged on its offer to provide a memorial service for its deceased janitor, a Navy veteran of the first Gulf war, when staff members discovered he was gay.
3) U.S. Representative Tom Tancredo in his quest for support from Religious Right Republicans at Iowa’s Straw Poll spewed out hate speech against minorities, immigrants, believers in evolution and even a foot washing sink installed in public bathrooms at the University of Michigan in Dearborn, which attracts significant numbers of Muslim students.
I don’t know; what do you think? Do you think those incidents would’ve made the news if they WERE representative of true Christian values? Or do you suppose that, like most things that get reported, they represent the exception rather than the rule?

Yes, those three select reports are representative of an entire group of people. There are no decent Republicans or Christians in the United States. The liberal media has done it’s job well.
You make the very common mistake of thinking Republicans are on the whole “God Fearing.” Your basic garden-variety Republican fears only 2 things: 1) losing money/power and 2) public opinion lest it cause him to lose money/power.
They only use Christianity as a smoke-screen for their radical agenda of hate.
I am quite that many atheists are in jail for committing crimes so ……………………do all atheists commit crimes? By your reasoning I guess so.

A lot can be done in the name of Christianity – these “so-called” Christians are not showing the love of Christ. True Christians are driven by the love of Jesus Christ and exhibit His character. Go pick on other people – Christians are not perfect, just forgiven.

Wow. I have heard about instances similar to that of the janitor who was a Navy veteran. A sad thing, but only shows that groups true colors (they don’t REALLY support our troups unless they are Christian). That first one though sickens me. I don’t see how draging a 15 yr old girl behind a van because she can’t keep up in a running exercise as instilling anything of value. “Love Demonstrated Ministries”??????? Do these people really think a label defines them? Get real…. Please tell me that first one is a joke.
I don’t know the facts surrounding #1 or #3. But if your description of 1 and 3 is as off as is your description of #2, then that’s not at all what happened.
In #2, here are the facts. The church’s janitor (not a member) asked the church to pray for his ill, non-church-going brother. They did. When his brother died, the church was notified and some staff went to the hospital to offer comfort for the family. At this time, an offer was made to hold the ceremony at the church, as well as feed about 100 guests. A slide show was to be done too.
The family submitted photographs for the slide show – these included pictures of men holding each others genitals – and expected the church to put them into the slide presentation to be shown at church. The family also wanted to bring in speakers to preside over the service – the pastor and church staff were to have no input or say so over what was to be said at the service. There was also to be an open-mike format for friends of the deceased to speak.
All in all, they did not want a Christian funeral service, they wanted a hall in which to have a gay celebration – some of the church staff did go to the place where it eventually was held, and it was a gay celebration.
In answer to your question though, yes, it is a demonstration of Christian, Biblical principles to refuse to call good that which God calls evil.

2. It was not the fact he was gay that caused them to renege on the offer to let the service be held there, but that the funeral’s planners were planning to highlight and glorify his gayness. So YES, this DOES reflect a Christian standard. Kudo’s to the Pastor for have the testicular fortitude to do the right thing.
3. Yes. Isn’t it the Liberals who squeal like stuck pigs any time Christians are afforded any treatment which is non-persecutory? Any time Christians are treated better than being ostracized or punished, the liberals shriek about ‘separation of Church and state;’ but when some wierdo cult wants to be SPECIALLY accomodated at taxpayer expense, suddenly THAT’S ok with these antichrist Leftists.
