Are we going to be drag between the US and the North Korea conflict just in case?

North Korea is a sore that won’t go away. It keeps on testing nuclear capabilities in the sea of Japan in the previous years which some how irritated the US since the 1950′s. And the Philippines is very near Korean peninsula, in the manner of speaking just a stone throw away. If some how war will broke out between these two, will the Philippines be involved? For those who think it will not involved us, but isn’t the US our ally and will stand up whatever it takes? We were rescued by the US twice in our history. First in WW2 when the US forces liberated the Philippines from the Japanese occupation in 1945, and second if not for the US intervention do you think we have EDSA revolution in our midst today? Reagan persuaded Marcos to leave the Philippines and offer asylum for the Marcoses in Hawaii. If US didn’t do that, the forces of Ver is ready to pound on Ramos and Enrile at Camp Aguinaldo and as the British will say, “it will be bloody”. Let us assume North Korea do not have enough stock file of nuke but China will back them up for whatever reason. This will be a large scale of conflict don’t you think? And a country that have stock file of nukes do not tell me they won’t use it. That is the very reason they have it isn’t it to use it in another time or future. What do you think?

China is no longer Communist. It is not within their ideology or best interest to have a hot war with any large country.

Don’t be fooled, the Hermit Kingdom is China’s puppet. North Korea is very near collapse and unlikely to continue much longer. The question should be “how will the collapse of North Korea effect Philippines”. Surly the West will provide aid to both Korea’s to maintain order and mitigate the human suffering that would ensue. The “safety” of the few nukes NK says they have is on Japan and the USA’s mind.
A nuclear conflict on the Korean Peninsula is very unlikely because it is not in China’s interest and it would be the end of North and South Korea.
Keep in mind Seoul South Korea is within easy range of NK heavy artillery found along the DMZ.

I hear the 2 divided Korea is still technically at war since the 1950s.
yes, in case matters turn to worst, under sanction of the United Nations of which we are a member, we will be involved somehow.

I do not think the Philippines will be dragged into a war between the US and North Korea. First and foremost, it will be South Korea AND Japan which will retaliate. That I guarantee. The US will just play the adviser role. With your contention that China might join the foray, possibly, but if they go all out into the dispute, then India will be the one to keep them in check. Just like Israel is the one who will go against Iran if ever.

When the US “liberated” Iraq, they did not seek the help of the Philippines. They understand that we are not ready to assist them in a modern day war. Token force is only to show support.

With regard to the US intervention you mention that led to the removal of then Pres. Marcos, they were just protecting US interests in the country – meaning the US bases, investments, and businesses. It would be hard to maintain these if the country was in a civil war or the economy in shambles because of that conflict. Btw, did you know that the US also intervened during the numerous coups against then Pres. Cory? Not many people know this.

Anything is possible. From a global perspective, any conflict between the US/S. Korea and N.Korea will affect every one of the 6 billion global population equally in terms of the ensuing nuclear apocalypse.

But let’s put this in the proper perspective. I would rather all you guys and gals stuck in the Philippines focus on urgent matters that are much more likely to happen or are happening (besides being things you could –IF YOU REALLY WANTED TO–do something about). Like the perpetual death, desperation and despair that affects at least 50 million of your neighbors. Or are you still pinning your hopes and dreams on your anointed savior the great ponga Noynoy or some more foreign aid from somewhere overseas?

China is no longer a Communist country and is turning more and more capitalist every year. Not to mention the fact that North Korea is not receiving aid from China the way it did in the past. South Korea, Japan, and the US are the main enemies of North Korea. They hate Americans and would do anything to crush the “evil American Capitalists”…….So what makes you think that they would be stupid enough to waste a nuclear missle on the Philippines of all places? What do they have to gain by bombing the Philippines?

Yawn…. North Korea and the U.S. have been at war since the Korean War in the ’50s. It is interesting to note that, except the Philippines, all the countries you mentioned have ‘stockpiles’ of nuclear weapons, with the U. S. having the greatest number. And more than 5 decades after that war, no one has ever dared to unleash those stockpiles. And no country is going to use its weapons in the next several decades. A nuclear war, if there should ever be, would be a useless war for all involved.
