Up above malibu are a couple of good ones camping right on the beach or across the road in a secluded canyon thes are my favorites, leo Carrillo and refugio.
Good luck getting a camping spot though as all southern ca. beaches are reservable only and were so 7 months ago. plan for next year. http://www.reserveamerica.com/
Study the National Forest and State Park offerings in California. If not a seaside beach, then you may find other places to enjoy on lakeshores or forests.
