Brakebuddy – Braking System for RVers towing a vehicle

BrakeBuddy’s technology provides the right braking force when you need it, along with advanced terrain sensing capabilities. @autopilotoverride ..That tiny towed vehicle you speak of would weigh in at approx 3,700 lbs curb wight…it looks as if its a Jeep Wrangler. That is 90% of the preferred vehicle for most flat towing. So imagine 4000 lbs pushing on the rear of a motorhome while some jerk pulls out in front of you.

@flynmid…. even a 2000 lb vehicle pushing on any motorhome would eventually make the brakes prematurely wear faster. It also is mandatory in most staes to have a supplemental braking system on ANY towed vehicle being flat towed behind a motorhome. If an accident occured and the police found out there was no supplemental braking system, they would have a field day with the RV owner. So the answer to your statement is , yes, it would make a difference.

looks like a great system, but there’s no way it could make that much difference for a motorhome that size pulling a Jeep

I’ve used this unit for two years. It works well and has some good safety features. In many states the towed vehicle must have some type of remote braking device and this unit is accepted in all of those states. I will not tow without the unit installed. In addition the unit constantly monitors its performance and wirelessly transmits status to the RV.

For all our sakes, let’s hope autopilotoverride NEVER decides to tow anything, ever, at all….

I believe I have read that a typical car towed behind Class A motorhome increases the stopping distance by 50%.

You can probably find this information if google it.

Sounds like BS. Does anyone know how much that tiny towed vehicle weighs in comparison to the towing vehicle??? God! DUH
