Camping in disney?

Im wondering first of; how is fort wilderness? My family wants to possibly camp in florida in April, How hot will it be? is it worth it? or should I look at getting hotel instead? We looked at pricing April 18th-25th of 08 for 2 adults, 2 children(12,9)

Best price we got so far was $1359.20 with 5 day base ticket and gatorland tickets, price was from vacationsnbeyond.com that dont include air as where driving down
I did go to waltdisneyworld.com first but this price is better.

Well, if you and your kids love camping, then Fort Wilderness is definitely worth it — especially in helping keeps costs down.

Fort Wilderness is great! April it is normally pretty nice weather. If you come from up north it might be a little warm for you. You can also rent a cabin that is right by that (which is not very expensive and comes with a small kitchen), and you can rent a golf cart to get around since you have children, because it is about a mile to get to the Wilderness lodge which is a hotel where you would find your busses or you can take a boat to Disney World. The Wilderness lodge is great if you want a sort of camping feel with out the camping part. You will probably be looking at $350-$400 a night. Also, ask for a AAA discount if you have a card.
    Hope this helps! =)

I have never camped at Fort Wilderness, but we stayed in an RV and it was very nice. I have never been to gatorland, since I live in the swamp of Southeast Texas, I can see a gator on a daily basis if I choose.

I suggest you go to http://www.waltdisneyworld.com We always arrange our trips there. This March two adults and a teen will be staying in a value resort, the Pop Century. We will be there six days and five nights. Rooms the dining plan and park hopper tickets were $2228. We will have free transportation to the parks and be able to take advantage of the extra magin hours.

I really do not think you can beat the cost. The great thing is we put $200.00 down and make monthly payments. I just need to have it paid off 45 days before we arrive. As soon as I had a reservation number 180 days before arrival date, I was able to schedule all of our table meals. This takes a great deal of the worry away.

I strongly suggest you give it a shot, to price out the trip. It will not cost you a thing to price things out.

We were there those same dates in 06 and the weather was dreamy, days were plenty warm for the water parks, and night we wore long sleeves. We could not have asked for better weather. I hope you have a blast.

Fort Wilderness is great, you and the kids will love it, I’ve stayed there a few times in my RV.
The price you already have is very good, as for the weather, it should be comfortable..not to hot.
By camping you will or can save money by making some meals in the camper, which is what we do. Plus we don’t like having to get up shower and dressed to get a cup of coffee!
Food prices are very competitive all over Florida and you can easily have a good meal for the 4 of you for under $50.00.
Never been to gatorland though, so I can’t tell you anything about it.
Google fort Wilderness and all the pictures you want are on that site.

    Have a great trip!

I think that is an excellent price for all it includes. And the Fort Wilderness Campground is a lot of fun! If your family enjoys the great outdoors, than they will love this experience. It is certainly a different way to experience Disney. And if in the end, it wasn’t for you, you’ll know to book a hotel room next time. Just be sure to pack mosquito repellant, although they shouldn’t be too bad in April.
