camping in florida with my dogs? where can i go?
Byhello, floridians. i have a 4 day weekend coming up in 5 weeks and would like to go camping someplace that features pet camping, preferably in a cabin such as a KOA camping cabin, but will go the tent route if need be. i have 2 dogs medium size and 2 kids also. i would like to be able to bring the dogs swimming with us, and fresh water swimming would be great. we live near the beach now in st.petersburg and rarely get to swim in fresh water.
if you know of campgrounds that allow pet camping AND pet swimming, please lemme know.

I went to College right outside Tampa and theres Withlacochee River State Park near Zephyrhills/Dade City. They have tent sites available and the river there to swim in and tube down (albeit not very fast). The also have RV/Camper hookups. I`ve always seen people camping with their dogs and they even allow horses into the park as well. Another good tent site is within Green Swamp Park, you made need to call the electric company to let them know you`ll be camping since they manage the land. Theres no lakes or rivers but I have seen people camping with dogs there.
