Can anyone recommend a small town to relocate to?

The gypsy spirit in me is looking to relocate to a warmer area (warmer than Michigan!). I want to find a small town in a warmer climate that is close to the Great Outdoors (good for hiking, kayaking, camping, etc.) and is thus near water. Does anyone have any suggestions??? I appreciate your input!

Check out Paducah, Ky it is growing rapidly but still not a city, and it has rural country towns all around it. It is close to Kentucky Lake and Lake Barclay. Good Luck!

Well, you might be looking for Texas! We’re certainly a lot warmer than Michigan! There are several hundred State parks, so the great outdoors is never more than a few miles away no matter where you are. And we surely have our share of small towns! I don’t know how small you’re looking for, but there are several websites that are helpful.

Eureka California. I lived there for two years and wish I never left. It was so quiet and fun. Loaded with trees and outdoor stuff to do. No snow like Michigan either and it’s located along the coast of California.

Kernville California is another area. It’s a lot more secluded than Eureka and way the heck out there. I own a timeshare in Johnsondale and it’s absolutely gorgeous. In the summer it gets nice and hot, but not muggy and it’s right next to the Kern River and Lake Isabella.

You can’t go wrong with either of those.

    Here are both places websites.

Are you kidding? Come to where I live, it is perfect for you, Silver Springs Florida, in the Forest section. I live in the middle of the only sub tropical rain forest in America, 500 thousand acres of pristine wilderness, 600 lakes, 3 rivers, the Silver River which runs through the forest is the purest river on earth, the water is 99.8% pure and constant 72 degrees year round. There are several Federal recreation areas for canoeing, kayaking, camping , hiking etc. Wildlife is diverse, we even have wild monkeys, I have them in my backyard and have the pix to prove it.
Silver Springs is 12 miles from Ocala where there is employment, federal and state offices etc, it is a medium size city at least for Florida, many national chain stores, restaurants etc. Rents are affordable and the people are very nice. Nice weather year round and virtually no hurricane problems as the forest acts like a wind break. Orlando is 90 miles away and Daytona Beach is 45 miles away on a straight run on SR 40 which runs through Silver Springs. So come on down to Sunny Florida

Email me if you would like more info, newspapers, rentals etc

Logan Utah is a medium sized town with outdoor activities just minute away from town in Logan Canyon. Beautiful Bear Lake is just over the hill 40 miles Utah Idaho border. Once you are over the hill in SE Idaho the Great Outdoors is all around you.

Arkansas is a very good place to go. The weather is agreeable and there are lots of small towns in the state. It is called The Natural State and has lots of state parks and lakes for recreation. There are loads of state parks for camping and other activities. The Ozarks are great (especially in the fall when the leaves turn)!

Bear Lake, Idaho; Montpelier, Idaho; Paris, Idaho…..all in Southern Idaho close to where I live. Bear Lake is also known as “Idaho’s Caribbean” because of it’s gorgeous blue/aqua color. Bear Lake is a small town very near both Paris and Montpelier which are both very small towns all only a few miles from each other. My mom works in those areas and she loves it! There’s also Hope, Idaho which is near Sandpoint and Coeur ‘d Alene and you have PERFECT fishing, hiking, and camping. It’s all woods and beautiful views. I was born in Sandpoint and my dad lives in Clark Fork (Another great suggestion!) You have Lake Pend Orielle wherever you live up there!

I, personally, live near Pocatello, Idaho. It’s a city, but there are numerous towns within a 30 mile radius that would be perfect. I happen to live in one of those tiny towns with a population of 600. I also white water raft and kayak on the Alpine strech of the Snake River which is near Jackson Hole, Wyoming—which happens to be less than 130 miles away from my house! It can’t get any better than that! We camp and hike, too, and Salt Lake City Utah is a two hour drive! Either way, Idaho is an amazing bet!
