so my boyfriend left october first for bootcamp and said he wouldnt be able to contact us for three weeks. but he has got to have 3 short phone calls home while he has been in reception…and got to mail two things home…one without his return adress and one with his return address. we got the one without his return address but we are still waiting for the one with his address he said it is mailed out. but with the weekend and holiday it is just late. since he just got to bootcamp on the ninth does that mean he the three weeks start now when we cant talk to him? or willl he still get our mail? and when will he be able to start calling on sundays. he is at fort benning georgia for infantry.

You can send mail to him as soon as you have address. Generally, they do not hold mail. As for calling, that will depend on his drill sgts as to when he will be able to call.
The clock starts when the army says it starts, so don’t angst over a few days one way or another. The return address that he used is probably his permanent address while in training, so be patient, it will probably arrive tomorrow since the mail man is off today.
Chances are, he will be able to correspond by mail almost immediately but not that often. Worse case scenario, three weeks. It will go by fast for him, he’s busier than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs, right now. Be patient, you will hearing soon.
Reception at most Army training centers is 1 week, recruits get shots, haircuts, uniforms and complete paperwork. Boot camp starts after reception, The Drill SGTS pick up the new troops and the fun begins. Army boot camp is now in 3 phases. I would not expect a private at Benning to call home for at least 5 weeks from the start of the red phase. The blue phase is a little easier but, until the white phase, about 6 weeks, don’t expect much voice contact. Write him letters everyday, don’t put perfume on them, it will cost him push-ups. The time will pass quickly, good luck!
