Does anybody know of a good place to go camping in western michigan that is on water somewhere?

What i’m looking for a is a nice secluded campsite to go with my family that is like you usually see on the movies. They type thats back in the woods, you’re on own with no other camping groups right on top of you, on a small lake or a river with some swimming area. That kinda scene. Any help on this would be great!

that secluded in MI. your going to have to make your own site however sleeping bear dunes near traverse city is not that crowded I camp there 2-3 times a year for hang gliding and rarely have anyone closer than 50 yards. for more remote head to northern U.P.

You can go into the state forests in northers LP, or lots of places in the UP. We camp in the mackinac state forest near wolverine and its very secluded, you probably only see a handfull of people all weekend. Its also near the sturgeon river if you like fishing.

There are some great and very remote parks in the UP. In the LP most campgrounds are very crowded at this time of year. Michigan has a website for travelers, I think it’s michigan.org.
