Good Places to camp in the state of ORegon?

My friends and I are wanting to go camping in about 3 weeks and I am not from Oregon, I’m just attending college here, but I was wanting to know where are some good campground in the state of Oregon. I seen some on the coast that look good and its close to the beach to just see–not swim. I do have some requirements that I would like to see at a campground. 1st–I want something that has a lot of trees around, like you are really camping in the woods, and someplace where you can actually build a fire at night and not just on a grill!! Some place where your not sitting right on time of another camper, that’s why I ask to be someplace with trees cause the trees can separate us from other campers… If any body knows of any places, Please let me know!!! Thanks

We go to this one spot right off of highway 6, at about mile marker 26 there is a turn off on the left hand side of the road if you are heading west. If you make it to the side of the road bathroom stop you’ve gone just a few turns too far west. It’s just a little dirt path that goes down through the trees towards the river. There is a large spot for camping, we’ve had up to 5 tents on big weekends. We’ve built fires down there a lot. There is also foot access to the river for swimming or fishing. It’s not part of a campground, so you have to be the first person there, and I don’t know who all knows of it. We always send someone down a day or two before the weekend to secure the spot. There are trees all around it. It’s a really great place to camp without being bothered. Sometimes other people show up to use the river access for the day, but there is plenty of river side real estate to share.

    Try this:

(most campsites have the view blocked from other campsites)

    Beachside State Recreation Site
US 101, 4 miles S of Waldport, Oregon

A few miles south of Waldport and north of Yachats on the central coast, this small, exquisite destination campground is right along side miles of broad, sandy beach.

Tent and electric sites accommodate one vehicle per site. Every site is mere seconds from the beach, which makes the park perfect for watching storms, sunsets and whales.

Vital stats: Open March-November. 32 electrical, 50 tent (maximum site 30 feet); 2 yurts; and a hiker/biker camp. For information only, call (541)563-3220 or (800) 551-6949. For reservations call 1-800-452-5687.

Beachside offers RV and walk/bike-in camping, yurt stays, picnicking, beach access and activities, hiking, biking, viewing wildlife, bird watching, and viewing scenery.

Try Tackenich Lake south of Florence ( I don’t know how to spell it), or the Vincent creek campground up Smith River road between Gardiner and Reedsport. There’s a lot of places around there you can just find a spot next to the creeks. You should scout it out first.
