Has anyone ever camped outside of Nederland near the Rainbow Lakes in Colorado?
I am planning a camping trip and looking for a place that I can car camp, or have a short hike in, that will not be too crowded– and not need to be reserved. Please let me know if you have been to Rainbow Lakes, or have another spot that you think would work. Thank you so much!
The road to Nederland is slow. I do not know where you live, but if you are Front Range, then head for the Central Mountains via I-70, which is fast. An ideal location if you can arrive on a weekday, since there are only about seven sites, Lower Cataract Lake. Bring water or a water filter. If you do not find a campsite, you can backpack up Eaglesmere Lakes, Surprise Lake, Tipperary Lake, or Lower Cataract Lake for dispersed camping.
