How many hours is illinois ahead from texas?

my bf is in navy boot camp in chicago and i was wondering
since i am in texas, how many hours in advance are they?

They are both on central time…so the time is the same.
Illinois is about 50 years ahead of Texas.
But they are both in the same time zone.
