How to keep lake lot water from stagnating?

I have a travel trailer on a lake lot here in the midwest. It has a 25 gallon water tank on it and I was told that the water in the tank will stagnate if left there all summer. We dont use the water for drinking. The water is mainly used for flushing the toilet and the very infrequent hand washing. Is there a natural chemical that can be added to keep the water from going bad? Thanks

Get a Bilge Pump, or any pump. pump the water to a fresh, clean tank, clean the old tank, chlorine or bleach is good for that, add about 1oz per gallon of bleach to the water, pump it back in.
This all depends on how stagnant the water is, there are tests kits for that. f the water has turned sour, get rid of it and do not consume it or allow anything to.
Moving water is good, that is how I kept the tanks on my Sailboat from turning, I would move half from Starboard to Port holding tank, both holding tanks were always clean and tested. then I would use the water as ballast, if on a starboard heel, I would move 1/3rd of the water to starboard side, and visa versa. Movement is one of the keys to that, but once water sours, it is only good for washing the decks.

Simple, since this water in that tank is mainly used for flushing your toilet just add a large concentration of sea salt or potassium to it. This is nature’s preservative for this will prevent the kind of growth bacteria that makes water stagnate.

+1 for adding salt. Please don’t use bleach in something that will end up in the water!

Copper Sulphate (do not confuse with Copper Sulphide which is toxic) It is available at most hardware stores and garden centers. It is often used in small ponds to keep algae from growing. It will turn the water a blue-green color. DO NOT USE SALT it will corrode pluming fixtures, copper and brass pipes and other metal.
