I live in maine and wanted to know if I could camp on damroscotia lake, with a controlled fire?

The lake is surrounded by residentual houses and the island/ islands are slightly forested? Could I camp out there overnight. I understand that a fire permit may be nessesary, but is it legal??
Check the Maine Forest service site to see if there is a burning ban right now and if so you couldn’t have a fire without a permit. You can file for a fire permit easily online. However if you don’t own the land then you’ll need to get permission to camp there unless it’s a state park or something.
