Is it illegal to camp somewhere over night if your under 18 with friends?

I want to go on a survival hike sometime this summer with my friends in montana. 2 of us are 14 and our other friend is 15. But one of them says it is illegal to camp in the wilderness if your younger then 18. Is this true? I don’t believe him. please help?
Yes it is unless you are with your parents or legal guardian.
Depends on several things. Is there a curfew law? If so, then yes it would be illegal for you to be out past that time. Are you staying on a camp site? If so, yes it’d be illegal for the campground to sell you the site your on. They probably wouldn’t let you stay for liability reasons. Are you going out in the middle of nowhere that doesn’t require a camp site, then probably no its not illegal if there isn’t a curfew. However, if anything was to happen and your parents knew you were all out there alone and unsupervised then chances are they would be held responsible in some way. My advice would be to find an adult or two to go with you.
