Is it safe to mist water on a dog that is hot?

My daughter went on vacation and left her 5 yrs old black lab with me (Mom). I live in Oklahoma and it is over 100 here and I live in a 34 foot travel trailer. It is 89 in my house but, the dog is acting like he is too hot. I put a fan on the floor in front of him. Is it ok to use a mist bottle to try to cool him off? I don’t want to hurt him…he is the only grand-dog (grand-son) i’ll ever have.

Yes it is fine to lightly mist him. Don’t drown him or anything, but usually Labs love water!
of course. Its water, hah
Hes not the wicked witch of the west, a little water wont kill him
Labs love water anyways
he should really enjoy that! You could also hose him off outside which will help cool him off. you may also want to get a inexpensive baby wading pool for him to lay in outside. they love them too.
Mist away. If you have a baby pool outside, put some cool water in it in the shade and let him romp. A quick towel dry and he can come back in to the fan. And try giving him some ice cubes.
It’s actually recomended. You don’t want him to over heat. It’s also a good idea to get him cold water to drink.
It is Absolutely safe to mist a dog. I have one of those mist fans, those work really well. Just make sure that your “Grand-dog” Knows your there or he might be a little startled.
It’s just water, dogs LOVE water!
He should love it.
I also give my dog ice cubes to chew on.
and a kiddie pool to walk in.
Go ahead. Since dogs don’t sweat I’m sure he’ll enjoy a man-made alternative
He feels like is hotter!
I bough a K-9 Keep Cool Body Wrap for my Beagle. I think this is the best thing we can do for our friends. You can find it on line at this site:

It costs about $48.
I’m really concerned about dogs at summer. This whether is so bad for them.
But, for now, once you don’t have it, try to keep him as cooler as possible. You can get some water, and pass it over his belly. That’s something that specialists usually recommend us to do.
I also, usually give something cold for my dog. I usually put some cranberry juice or watermelon juice and pieces of it in a little bowl and then, I give it to her, after iced. She loves that and her body temperature gets down.
One more thing: never, ever, let a dog in a car, under hot whether, even for a moment. Unfortunately, at summer, some dogs die because they were letf in the car for their owners, while these were shopping, for exemplo!
Their body doesn’t react to hot whether like ours They really need especial attention! This dog is so lucky to have you!!
I hope both of you can be fine.
P.S.: I don’t work for the site I recommended. Is really the place where I bough the body cooler. I never saw it at another store.
The quickest way to cool the dog is to mist the belly area. Works well. Can you freeze some water in a plastic bottle?? Put that on the floor and he will use that to get cool as well.
