Just about anywhere below 5000ft, Joshua Tree is popular during the winter, all of your coastal range hills are good. Clear lake, shasta lake up north. Cachuma lake, Lopez lake in central, Lake Henshaw, Cuyamaca lake in the south. here is a great link for California campiing
The simple answer is yes. Though many people like camping in snow and cold and head for these camping areas in winter, most folks prefer warmer weather, and California has plenty of that available too.
There are several county parks that allow camping along the Colorado River and are popular winter camping locations. Further east around the Salton Sea are campgrounds, and the area around Borrego Springs is one of our favorite winter camping areas. The state park there has a full service campground, and there is dispersed camping (camping outside a developed campground) available as well.
Bureau of Land Management offers hundreds of thousands of acres of public land suitable for camping. The Mojave National Preserve has free dispersed, as well as developed campgrounds available for a nominal cost.
Well dont go to Northern CA unless you wanna freeze your a** off. Tempetures up there in the morning around this time are about 20 degrees and lower. And During the day you can expect 40.(Thats at 4,000 elevation)
But if you want warmer tempetures and to be comfortable during the day go more down south. I only know campsites in Nor Cal.
