Looking for a good, safe camping area in Northern FL or GA?

My bday’s coming up and we would like to go camping in the N FLorida area of GA area as we are meeting my brother’s family from N Ga. We are trying to find a camping area that is great for kids, clean and safe preferably with options to swim whether on the beach or in safe waters. We will be leaving Oct 17 and would like to meet halfway or somewhere in between.

Most State Parks are safe and fun. Look for on in the middle.

Well I live in Jacksonville FL, and there are a couple of good parks where you can camp here in Jax…there is the first one “Hugenot Park” is a nice place to go if you like the beach atmosphere, it has the river side, the lagoon side, and the beach…..good fishing on the river side, good swimming on the beach and both can be had in the lagoon…it is located on Heckshire Drive in northeast Jacksonville….the second park is “Hanna Park”, which is in the mayport section of Jacksonville….here you can get a camping spot in the woods(if you prefer) and Hanna Park also has a beach on the ocean, as well as lakes for fishing and kayaking….both of these parks have ample camping spots and are quite affordable and safe…

Perfect, its always best to make sure you meet in the middle when meeting family. I have many links and info that may help you, so bear with me.

To start out with I would like to mention Crooked River State Park, this Southern Georgia state park is located on both the Crooked River & Atlantic Ocean. It is within a half hour of Florida and has 62 safe campsites. I don’t know if you fish, but at this park it is a very popular activity. You can also go Boating and Kayaking or rent a bike and rife around this popular park. Sadly there is no maintained swimming beach that I know of at this park.

Lets move on to this next option, Fort Clinch State Park!! This site sounds historic right, well it is but it has much more then just history. Located on Amelia Island, Florida this park is very close to the Georgia border and has many great camping areas. Best of all there are indeed BEACHES!! Thats not all, there is also hiking, wildlife viewing and you guessed it, fishing.

To top it off i’ll throw in one more place. Manatee Springs State Park is another great place, located in Northern Florida this park has swimming galore, and so do it’s neighboring parks. Swimming is done in Crystal clear springs located at the park and other local parks.

Anastasia Island State Park is a beautiful and safe place to camp. The camp ground is right on the beach pretty much. The beach is about 4 miles long, and when you sleep at night you can hear the waves crashing. You can swim, fish, ride bikes, and many other things. There are showers and nice bathrooms. There is also a little store where you can buy some stuff if you forgot. It is just south of historic St. Augustine. Been it is close to Halloween time, St. Augustine has some great haunted tours at night. I hope thi
