motorhome runs but wont move?
hi, here is my problem, ive posted on here before but didnt get a good answer so i came across another idea… my 76 dodge b300 318 v8 runs good in P and N but when i go to put in gear it just slows the engine down and stalls. ive been thinking it could be the vacuum modulator on the transmission and i really never thought about it till today. i only see 1 vacuum hose going down under the rv but it goes to a canister of some type and there isnt anymore vacuum hooks ups left on the engine(intake or carb) but i was asking if some cars dont have a vacuum modulater? this is automatic transmission. if it does have a vacuum modulater could this be causing the transmission to somehow slow down the engine and make it stall? thanks. any help would be fine

i would definately be checking on that transmission.
vaccum modulator only helps the transmission shift when excellerating. think about it motor is running good in park and neutral because nothing in transmission is engaged or turning yet then you put it in gear which engages the bands which start turning internal shaft in transmission. if something breaks, comes apart, or jams the internal shaft it can lock up transmission causing it to act like the brakes on the engine making it cut off. i have seen couple of people break the crank because of a locked up transmission. not saying it locked up but something is definately stuck in trans. hope this helps
check the carb, could be flooding out, or not getting enough fuel.
