New Years in New York City?

I’ve never gone to Time Square to watch the ball drop before and I’m wondering what to expect. To those who have experienced it before I was wondering what time the crowd started getting dense and how difficult it was to get to where you needed to be so that you could see the ball well. My train is due in at 3 pm and I’m hoping that in order to have a place to stand in Time Square I don’t need to make camp because standing for 9 hours in the cold is not ideal to me. Any personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Time Square is the craziest place on earth to celebrate New years eve but it is worth.

Although, safety is a caution due to the fact, millions and millions of people and tourists come here to see the ball drop, this is a high alert of a terrorist attack.

but theres alot of parties going on in NYC like webster Hall

Be prepared to be packed in like sardines with no place to use the bathroom. The restaurants won’t let you in unless your buying something and the waits are so long! But, my 20-something children do it every year and love it! Be there by 2 to get a decent place to stand and don’t carry a back-pack as you can’t carry it in.

It will be dense and crowded at Times Square. You say that standing in the cold for nine hours is not for you, well to get a good viewing spot, nine hours may be to short.

The weather today is going to get very cold with winds at a sustained 20 MPH and gusting to 50MPH. The wind chill near midnight will be near zero,
