once my friend got bitten by what we think was a moth and ive been afriad of moths since. do moths bite?

my friend and i were camping in new york and got bitten while we were swimming late at night. ever since ive be so afraid of moths. please help. do moths bite, have teeth, or have mouths??


No. Moths DON’T bite. Your friend probably got bitten by a Deer Fly… And THOSE things are NASTY -because their bite hurt for a LONG Time !!!
No moths don’t bite.
Like butterflies they feed using a toothless probosis (sort of like a hollow tongue) that is used to drink nectar and other liquids, and is curled up under the head when not in use;

This cannot be used to pierce skin so it probably was something like a deerfly/ horsefly that bit you and your friend.
