Out of shape Teen. 50 mile hike in 2 months. Help!?
Hey. I am in a program called c5 youth foundation and it is my third year. All third year students go to Montana and WY for a 13 day trek. 7 days where on campus the other 6 days we break off into groups and go our separate ways. I went on a 4 mile hike a few days ago and it was torture and I held up the whole group. We will have a big camping bag too full of stuff. What can I do to prepare and maybe loose a few pounds.

Start walking now. Wear comfortable shoes and socks and wear a backpack (you can just put random stuff in it for now). Walk at least a mile every night for the first week; time yourself and try to get it done in a little less time each time. Your second week, walk at least a mile and a half every night and make your backpack heavier. Third week, at least two miles and increase the weight in your backpack. Fourth week, see how far you can go and try to make that distance at least every other night. After the fourth week, try walking with a backpack about the weight you’ll be using. Keep pushing the distance you can go. As long as you keep walking for the next two months, you’ll be able to keep up.
