To illustrate Peter777t’s point, I went up to Lake Huron last weekend with an old friend and his son. We were riding 4 wheelers along the beach. Mine abruptly stopped. I went airborne and into the lake. COLD, COLD, COLD! Luckily I wasn’t going more than 15 mph. Both the 4 wheeler and myself were okay. I still don’t know for sure what stopped me. Next time, I will practice more diligence while riding.

Please drive safe Neil. More often than not car “accidents” don’t happen by accident. They happen because drivers have no conception of the fact that their energy increases with the square of their velocity. Of course it also decreases at that rate during a rapid deceleration (i.e. an “accident”). That’s why it becomes critical to stay within the speed limit. But you knew that!
