Should I do anything about the spider bite on my hand?

I’ve just returned this afternoon from a youth summer camp in the North Carolina mountains. The second morning of camp, I woke up to find my right hand rather swollen, with a red, itchy spot in the middle that stuck out further than the rest of my hand. It was rather sore and warm to the touch. I put some anti-itch cream on it, and also took a Benadryl when I went to bed that night.
Now, a few days later, the swelling is almost completely gone, and my hand doesn’t hurt or feel warm. It is still itchy, and the bite (I’m assuming it’s a bite, but I could be wrong) is red with a slightly lighter center. Is there anything else I should do to treat it, or just let nature take its course?

Maybe you should go to the doctor.

    Spiders can be very dangerous.

Try putting some butter on it to get rid of the itch…Otherwise you should be fine if its not still swollen.

try a warm compress and put antibiotic ointment on it right after.
If it gets worse or doesn’t clear up, see your doc.

Like you said, if it was mostly healed, why treat it when it’s almost healed? It’s gone through it’s worst now anyway. Let nature take it’s course.

Let nature take it’s course. Soon you will find that you are getting stronger and that you can throw webs from which you can swing from tall buildings in your quest to save the world.

You will have to make a costume with one of those sexy mini skirts and thigh length high heeled boots to wear when you are fighting crime.

well if you can breath fine and you arent dizzy or weak or anything then you are fine. chances are it wasnt a dangerous spider ..but if you start to feel dizzy ,weak , or have trouble breathing then go to the hospital .. if not you will live to see another day

Im a medical student and you should have had it checked out the first time you noticed it and if you haven’t done so already then you need to ASAP! If your not experiencing more than just itching you probably are not experiencing a allergic reaction which is good. But for future references always get something like that checked out.

Put an antibiotic cream on it – like Neosporin – and keep a watch on it. Since you are not sure it was a spider – give it a few days. If it starts looking infected, redness spreads to a larger area, or the center appears to be getting an open sore – then go to the Dr. – Some spider venom has a necrosis toxin- that rottens the flesh – and this will require oral antibiotics.
