Should I email the guy who told me he would probably hire me? more than 1 month later?
So I applied to be a camp counselor at a few summer camps. One camp in NY hired me, but i would rather work for one in Maine. (more $$$).(im a college kid i need as much $$ as i can earn.) I met the Maine camp director in the begining of january. He pretty much loved me and he was very impressed by my resume. Before i left the interview he told me “he was on board and he would be sure to check my references for confirmation.) at this point I was certain i was hired. I emailed him at the end of January to check the status of my application. he emailed me back saying he was still interested in hiring me but he was still checking my references. He still hasn’t emailed me back. Should I email him back? If so, what should I say/ or Was he pulling my chain?

sure you should email, you wont know otherwise
Yes email him and ask if he’d been able to check your references. Ask if there’s anything else he needs that would help him make a decision.
I would call him. I think you should have called him two weeks ago actually rather then left it an entire month.
If he hadnt seriously been interested in hiring you then he would have said something like “thanks for coming in, we will call you in a few weeks to let you know if you got the job” they dont get excited about you if they arent going to hire.
However, since then hey may have found some one else just as good if not better which is why it is important for you to speak to him just incase you dont have a job.
Also for your future reference the best thing to do when looking for a job is take the first offer, that way you are secure, but if a better one comes a long you can always switch.
Should prob post in jobs section. But anyway, in my experience I am usually told same day if I’m hired. I think he is politely rejecting you. Sorry. Even if he was checking references it wouldn’t take a month.
