Travel boot substitute?
BySo I bought travel boots for my mare because I’ll be taking her to shows this summer. She is used to brushing boots but absolutely hates traveling boots. She refuses to move and constantly tries to kick them off. I’ve tried everything to get her used to them but I don’t want her to associate them with trailering because at the moment she is good in the trailer and I don’t want her to dislike it. So basically can I use brushing boots to travel instead? I know they aren’t as long but she can’t stand things on her legs that are higher than brushing boots. Thanks

Boots really aren’t all that necessary in the trailer… but if you insist, why not try simple polo wraps and bell boots? Gives the same protection, but is something that she is (likely) more familiar with.
If she absolutely won’t stand for boots of any sort, let her trailer with bare legs. Kicking around is going to make her more agitated in the trailer, and could cause some seriously dangerous problems. Might as well keep her as comfy as possible.

You can use legs wraps if you know how to do them. She may tolerate that better.

The most important part to protect is the coronary band and bulbs of the heels. You could just use bell boots all around for that. If she kicks and doesn’t like those then bare legs is better then her banging around and getting hurt if she doesn’t like the boots.

I use polo wraps. They work just as well. (:
