Trying to find a Montana lake?
By adminYears ago before we moved we went to a lake south of Swan Lake in the Swan Range of Montana. It was at the time a trophy only trout lake. It’s smaller and has bears in the area too. It didn’t have a established campground, but we camped there wilderness camping. Does anyone know this lake, we can’t remember name or exact location. It had a rough road that did go to it.

Was it Metcalf Lake? I used to visit this lake as a kid, it had a giant rope swing. I remember the road being very, very rough. It’s about 9 miles south of Swan Lake on Hwy 83. I know the trout fishing there was excellent but you could only keep one if it was over 22 inches. My Dad used to fly fish in his float tube there. It was a pretty small lake. I heard that Plum Creek had put it up for sale but I’m not sure if anyone ever bought it.
