Using Ty-Vek for RV Roof repair and re enforcement?

Bought a 40 year old travel trailer that is in rough shape.

Not looking to do complete restore, just clean and replace items that are vital for the least amount of money.

Roof seems oxidized, but there is only one noticeable crack. Looking to re enforce the roof and protect it from rain and snow.

Do not care about the appearance.

Would use roof repair tape for crack, and use ty vek wrap for entire roof….Would this help at all, is tv-vek durable enough for the direct elements.

How would I secure the ty-vek to the roof, staples or adhesive?

Sounds like you aren’t planning to more the trailer, but using ty-vek is a waste of time and money. It will deteriorate like any other plastic product that is exposed to the elements. I’d suggest that you properly repair the crack and coat with roof coating product. Wrong decisions made today are called problems tomorrow. Good Luck to you

Ty vek is not meant to be exposed to the elements.

Tyvek is an infiltration barrier, not an exterior finish. It will not hold up to the elements, especially wind. If you want to cover the roof with a weatherproof membrane, use EDPM (rubber) which can be glued down. For best results you will want to secure the edges to prevent wind and water from getting under the membrane and breaking the bond. Another option is to use a roof coating which is applied with a heavy nap roller. Hope this helps.
