Want to plan a camping trip in colorado with my boyfriend and dog. Ideas places?

Me and my boyfriend want to go camping in colorado and want it to be a perfect experience. Ideas on where to go or stay (pet friendly) activities, unexpected supplies we should bring…. advice? Cost estimate? Anything would be great

Its gets cold early in the mountains. Even could snow anytime now.
Colorado is a summer camping state.
Bring warm clothes. It gets cool even in the summer, in the mountains, at night. Be aware there are dangerous animals around for tent sleeping. It the wilderness. Sleep where there are lots of people around.
It probably will rain in the afternoon if youre high up. Be ready for that

Bears and Coyotes are not friendly. .
It snowed in the mountains yesterday, so bundle up at night, but I agree with Rocky Mountain Natl Park, I don’t know what your idea of camping is though. In your car? In a tent? At a campground?
